Logging Services

Discovery maintains eleven logging units for two-man or one-man services.

When close surveillance and good geological data are required, Discovery provides a complete two-man Hydrocarbon Logging Service. Our crews collect and evaluate well samples and hydrocarbon data on a twenty-four hour per day basis in order to assure that no potential hydrocarbon bearing zones go undetected, and help establish an accurate picture of the subsurface geology.

When only certain zones of interest are to be monitored, a one-man logging operation may be used with the logger on location as required to achieve the objectives. In this case the samples are caught and sacked by the rig personnel. The logger records the samples, gases, shows and other rig data.

Services provided

• Continuous sampling of drilling fluid for hydrocarbon content
• Continuous chromatograph analysis of gas
• Drill time recorded continuously--per 1 ft., per 2 ft. average or 10 ft. total
• Lithology interpreted, lagged to proper depth and plotted on log
• Bit information, mud properties , drilling parameters, deviation surveys, mid-night depth, and logger tours recorded on log
• Drill stem test, core interval, etc. recorded on log
• Show information, i.e., % oil fluorescence, % visual porosity, and cut evaluation
• Morning reports, show reports and DST reports.
• Daily calibrations of gas detectors
• Carbide as needed for good lag control
• Creation of LAS file
• Use of Client/Office Program

• E-mailing MWD LAS files for the importing of gamma ray curves onto the mudlog for horizontal wells
• Importing E-log curves onto the mudlog for calculating water saturations, BVW, etc.
